Transaction Services and deals advisory internships
Transaction Services teams check the numbers behind an acquisition. Before a fund or a company buys a business, they run the financial due diligence: quality of earnings, net debt, working capital, and everything that should move the price. The same deals practices also hold valuation, restructuring and M&A advisory teams.
Interns work as junior consultants on live deals: they rebuild the accounts, build the data book and draft parts of the report. In France, six-month internships starting in January or July are the norm and often lead to a full-time offer; in the UK and the US, firms recruit their summer interns about a year ahead.

You see many companies a year, from the buyer's side, and learn to read a set of accounts fast. It is a well-trodden path into private equity, M&A and corporate development, and deals teams are large enough to take many interns every season.
What recruiters read for
Accounting you can use: reading a P&L, a balance sheet and a cash flow statement, and explaining an adjustment to EBITDA. A strong cover letter names the team (Transaction Services, valuation, restructuring), a sector the office covers, and analysis you have already done yourself.
Only deals roles appear on this page. Audit, tax, legal and IT consulting internships at the same firms are left out on purpose.
